What is CUET PG?

The Common University Entrance Test (Postgraduate), commonly known as CUET PG, is a single-window national entrance examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the mandate of the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

CUET PG serves as the mandatory admission pathway for master's degree programmes (including M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., LL.M., M.Tech., and M.P.Ed.) across premier Central Universities (such as the University of Delhi (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)), alongside leading state, deemed, and private institutions.

Crucial Update: Part A (General Section) Has Been Abolished

In earlier iterations, CUET PG had 100 questions split into Part A (25 general aptitude and language questions) and Part B (75 domain questions).

Under current NTA regulations, Part A has been completely removed. Every question paper now contains strictly 75 domain-specific questions directly derived from your undergraduate degree syllabus. This change saves students 15 minutes of testing time and allows total focus on academic mastery of the core discipline.

Official CUET PG Marking Scheme (+4 / -1)

Every question in the CUET PG examination is a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) carrying 4 marks. Understanding the negative marking penalty is vital for strategic exam attempt planning.

Admissions & Cutoffs

How CUET PG Counselling & Cutoffs Actually Work

A common misconception among candidates is waiting for a "centralized NTA cutoff list". NTA does not release a national cutoff or conduct admission counselling.

Role of NTA

Testing & Scorecard Only

  • Issues admit cards and conducts the 90-minute CBT.
  • Publishes provisional and final answer keys.
  • Issues the official Scorecard with raw marks and percentiles.
Role of Universities

Independent Counselling & Cutoffs

  • DU (CSAS PG), BHU, JNU run separate registration portals.
  • Each university publishes round-wise allocation lists.
  • The closing score of each round forms the official cutoff mark.
